  I still want to upgrade my 35mm camera to something awesome. I’ve looked at the contax g2 mostly, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I do like my AE1 with parcel tape holding the battery in. It’s helped me make some nice photos. I’m not really sure what other ‘cut above the rest’ 35mm cameras there are available.
